Your child's therapy program is developed and overseen by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and implemented by a team of Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs). Your BCBA will communicate with you regularly regarding your child's goals and progress and will serve as your primary contact for any of your child's clinical needs.
Upon becoming a Thrive Kid, your child will join a group of similar-age peers who they will learn with and play alongside across various activities throughout their days. A portion of each of your child's sessions will also be spent 1:1 with their RBT, separate from peers, for individual instruction. Your child's day will be structured based on their individual goals and interests and your child's BCBA will collaborate with you regarding their needs and progress on an ongoing basis.
While the specifics of each day vary, you can generally expect that your child will have daily opportunities for:
Your child does not have to have an autism diagnosis prior to starting services at Thrive if our clinical team determines that ABA is medically necessary upon completing an initial evaluation. However, insurance likely will not cover the cost of ABA if a formal Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis has not been given.
If you suspect that your child has autism or their teacher, doctor, etc. has recommended that you have your child evaluated, but they have not been seen yet, we can still help! We are happy to support you through the evaluation process and there is no pressure to receive services from us if your child does receive an ASD diagnosis after we provide assistance through the evaluation process.
Additionally, ABA is proven effective for other neurological, developmental, and genetic disorders, but again- insurance may not cover the cost if there has not been an autism diagnosis given. There may be other options available to help cover therapy costs though. If your child does not have autism or does not have an autism diagnosis yet, but needs our support, please reach out and we'll be happy to discuss your child's specific needs and options with you!
We provide therapy from 8 AM-4 PM, Monday through Friday. We offer three block schedule options- 1 full-time, and 2 part-time, that each have their own onboarding schedule and waitlist. Your child's clinician will work with you to determine what number of therapy hours are medically necessary for your child upon completion of their initial assessment.
In Indiana, many insurance providers are required to cover ABA under Indiana's Health Insurance Mandate for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) and Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDDs). However, there are specific steps that need to be taken in order for the mandate to apply. Here is a link we find to be helpful in breaking down the requirements and steps: https://www.iidc.indiana.edu/irca/articles/indianas-health-insurance-mandate-for-autism-spectrum-disorders-and-pervasive-developmental-disorders-pdds.html
At Thrive specifically, we are currently in network with Indiana Medicaid, we are an approved Education Scholarship Account (ESA) provider, and we are in network with many commercial insurance companies as well.
Please reach out if you have specific questions regarding your insurance plan or your ABA coverage. We will be happy to run a benefits check for you and provide you the information we receive, free of charge.
